Melanoma Surgery - Day 51
It’s been a couple of weeks since I took a picture of my face. I rolled out of bed late this morning to take the picture below.
The scar continues to heal well and I’m still utilizing my Mederma/silicone patch treatment. The patch isn’t big enough to cover the entire scar so for the past several weeks I was placing it vertically along the front side of my scar (closest to my chin).
As I mentioned before I felt the silicone patch was instrumental in smoothing out my scar and when I compared the scar area covered by the silicone patch to the rest of my scar I noticed the uncovered scar area seemed behind (in terms of healing progression). The skin surrounding the uncovered scar area seemed inflamed (more redness) and the scar line was wider than the scar line covered by the silicone patch.
So, I’ve decided to change the placement of the silicone patch to the backside of my scar to see if it can catch up to the front side.
I’ll post my findings in a couple of weeks and we’ll see what happens.
